New York City Mission Society takes an active role in strengthening our community to bring hope where it is needed the most.

Youth Development – Mentoring
The Amachi/NY program helps children with incarcerated parents by giving them the support they need to deal with a difficult situation. We provide these children with positive adult role models who they can count on and trust.

The Amachi/NY program matches volunteer mentors from community and religious organizations with these children in caring, one-on-one mentoring relationships. For Amachi children, mentors become part of their family and a source of guidance, encouragement, and support.
