Education is the key to opportunity and lifelong economic success. In New York City’s impoverished, crime-ridden neighborhoods, public schools far too often fail to provide the core essentials, let alone the extracurricular support that most middle-class families take for granted.

New York City Mission Society provides comprehensive after school programs to help students succeed in school.

New York City Mission Society operates four after-school programs, at:

  • PS 92 and PS 175 on West 134th Street in Harlem
  • Wadleigh Secondary School on West 114th Street in Harlem
  • PS 85 in the Bronx

These programs give students: homework help, computer instruction, arts and crafts, athletics, peer discussion groups, and a hot meal in a safe place while their parents are still at work.

In the summer, New York City Mission Society offers its Power Academy Summer Enrichment Program at these four schools and the Minisink Townhouse.

Power Academy provides education, cultural enrichment, recreation, community service, and character development activities for children ages 6-12.
